Fritter
Directions
- Prepare Glaze. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and 2 Tablespoons of milk until smooth. If needed, whisk in additional milk – 1 teaspoon at a time – to achieve a consistency that can be drizzled; set aside.
- Prepare Fritters. Set air fryer at 400ºF on the Air Fry setting and preheat for 5 minutes. In a separate small mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, spice blend, and salt; set aside. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined. Gently fold the flour mixture into the buttermilk mixture until just combined – do not overmix. Fold in apples.
- Line the fryer basket with a basket liner (or parchment paper cut to the size of the basket). Spritz the liner with cooking spray. Portion rounded 1/4-cup mounds of fritter batter on the liner. Do not overcrowd. Spritz the mounds with cooking spray.
- Air fry the fritters at 400ºF for 5 minutes. Use a spoon to carefully turn the fritters over; air fry for an additional 3 minutes. Use tongs to transfer fritters to a cooling rack placed over a piece of parchment paper. As soon as the warm fritters are cool enough to handle, dip each in cinnamon glaze to coat; return to cooling rack. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
