Ingredients
- 5 oz brewed tea*
- 4 oz lemonade
- *supplies: loose leaf tea of choice, measuring spoon, steeping vessel, heated water, timer, strainer.
Step up your next Palmer from plain to premium with the following easy steps. Here’s what you will need:
Directions
- Make a Tea Concentrate. For your tea of choice, prepare the tea per the package instructions for one serving, except use 6 ounces of water (instead of 8 ounces). Cover and steep as directed. Strain infusion and allow to cool to room temperature (or colder) before assembly; discard tea leaves.
- Assemble. To a 16-ounce glass, add 4 ounces of lemonade. Fill glass to the top with fresh ice, then top with cooled tea. Yields one serving.
Recipe Note
Tips for Layering. While it’s not necessary, if you’re going for that eye-catching half-and-half look, pour the cooled tea directly over the fresh ice so it slowly dribbles into the glass. This will help create and maintain a distinct layered effect. Alternatively, you can hold a spoon over the top of the glass and turn the spoon over so it is convex. Slowly pour the cooled tea over the back of the spoon and let it dribble into the glass.
Endless Possibilities. While black tea is most featured in Arnold Palmers, green and herbal teas also make delicious (and colorful!) Palmer combinations. The truth is any tea can be used; however, some are better suited than others. When choosing a tea, look for flavors that could be complemented by the sweet-tart, citrusy profile of lemonade. In addition, avoid delicate teas, whose soft nuances and refined flavors could get lost among the icy and bold lemonade character.
Here are a few of our favorites:
BLACK: Apricot Ginger, Blueberry Black, Earl Grey, Peach on the Beach
GREEN: Blueberry Fields, Green Tropical, Marrakesh Mint, Superberry Trifecta
HERBAL: Aurora Blue, Craving Crusher, Dragon Fruit Fusion, Ginger Turmeric
To Sweeten or Not to Sweeten?
Because lemonade is already sweetened, Arnold Palmers usually are not prepared with additional sugar. However, when preparing homemade lemonade, for even more flavor you can swap traditional sugar for one of our infused sugars, or use it to rim the glass for an elevated presentation.
